In the 42nd World School Children’s Art Exhibition, Hong Kong students made full use of the characteristics of Chinese traditional dance, drama and custom in their artworks, won 3 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals among 30,000 submissions from 60 countries and cities around the world. The YAG Showcase will display the 6 winning artworks from January to March 2012.

YAG Nov Showcase

The 26th China Adolescents Science and Technology Invention Contest was held in August 2011 in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region . The team of three Form 6 students (LI LAP KIU, IP KWUN LUN and CHAN TSZ HO) from Carmel Pak U Secondary School won the First Prize in this contest by the "Photanol" Experiment.

The YAG Nov & Dec 2011 Showcase is displaying information of this contest and broadcasting the videos of the experiments.

YAG Oct Showcase

The 2011 International Student Remotely Operated Vehicle Competition (ROV) was held in June by the Marine Advanced Technology Education (MATE) in the U.S.A.. A team of 13 students from the School of Engineering of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) won the Design Elegance Award. The Young Achievers’ Gallery’s October Showcase is introducing this competition, the winning work from this team and the competition highlights.

YAG Aug & Sept 2011 Showcase

The Nippon Harp Competition in Japan has 22 years of history. In the earlier years mainly Japanese harpists competed in the competition. Since 1992, harpists from Europe, America as well as other Asian countries started joining in. The 22nd Nippon Harp Competition consisted of 2 categories: Junior and Advanced Divisions. Jasmine Shek Cheuk Lam was awarded 2nd prize in the Junior Division. The YAG Aug & Sept 2011 Showcase is displaying information of this competition and Jasmine Shek¡¦s videos of performances.

Premieres of YAG High Achieving Students¡¦ Success Stories were held on 25 June and 2 July 2011. After each video was shown, student(s) of the story shared their struggles, experience and expectations for their future. About 90 teachers, parents and students attended the premieres and visited the YAG. The participants all found the exhibits and the videos inspiring and worth promoting to other student

The Young Achievers¡¦ Gallery June & July Showcase

In the Odyssey of the Mind ¡V 2010 World Finals, there were over 800 teams participating from the U.S.A. and 12 other countries. The Representative Team from Pok Oi Chan Chai Memorial College won the Champion in the Classics Topic ¡mDiscovered Treasures¡nDivision II Competition. The representative team skilfully used waste materials to produce pops and costumes with stage effects. With fabulous body actions and light effects, they acted out a treasure hunt trip. The Young Achievers¡¦ Gallery June and July Showcase is displaying the video of this winning performance, the pops and the costumes.

The 10th Tomorrow¡¦s Little Scientists has attracted 581 high school students from all over China to participate in the Award Programme. There are totally 15 First Prize winners and 50 Third Prize winners in the whole nation. Hong Kong students has got 1 First Prize and 3 Third Prizes. The winning works are ¡§Magic on using powder from¡¥warm packet¡¦ to filter water polluted with heavy metals¡¨, ¡§Smart Anti-Dust Computer Tower¡¨, ¡§Get your teeth into doing sport¡¨ and ¡§Research study on hydrogen production by photosynthetic bacteria, blue-green algae under anaerobic conditions¡¨. The Young Achievers¡¦ Gallery¡¦s January Showcase is displaying the winning works and the competition highlights.

The Young Achievers¡¦ Gallery¡¦s December Showcase

2010 Rope Skipping World Youth Tournament was held in July in Loughborough, the U.K. Hong Kong athletes, totally grabbed 20 Gold, 13 Silver and 15 Bronze Medals in different Team Events and Individual Events, beat down other powerful and traditional rope skipping countries like the U.S.A., Belgium and Australia. The whole Hong Kong Team became the Champion in the whole competition. The Young Achievers¡¦ Gallery December showcase will be displaying the competition performance of teams formed by student athletes from different schools, and the sharings of student athletes and coaches.

The 6th World Choir Games was held in Shaoxin, Zhejiang in July. There were 472 choirs with over 20,000 members from 83 countries participating. Choirs from Diocesan Boys¡¦ School, Diocesan Girls¡¦ School and S.K.H .Lam Woo Memorial Secondary School totally grabbed 4 champions in 4 categories. YAG August Showcase Introduction

A Year Two student from the School of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong (CityU), Jazz Zhou, won three prizes at the Gatsby CM Award 2009 with her outstanding animated commercial. Jazz¡¦s creative work, titled A Gatsby tALE, vividly presented the Japanese hair product by showing a girl¡¦s long hair merge into a tree through the clever use of graphics. Although the commercial only lasts for 30 seconds, Jazz drew more than700 sketches for it. More than 250 entries from students in Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong were submitted to the competition. Jazz claimed the Gatsby Technical Award (15/30-second commercials), the Jury¡¦s Special Award and the Mandom Award with her work.
YAG is displaying this winning animated commercial, some of her sketches and the highlights in the prize giving ceremony.

23 - 2 -2010 This is a reminder for people who are interested in entering the Young Achievers¡¦ Gallery Art Competition: all artworks should be submitted by post or by hand to the Reception Counter of West Podium, Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre, Education Bureau, 19, Suffolk Road, Kowloon Tong between 1 March and 1 April from 10:00am to 6:00pm (Mon ¡V Fri).
2 - 2 -2010 The robot team of the University of Hong Kong - Faculty of Engineering was the First Runner-Up and received the Best Artistic Design Award in the Asia-Pacific
Broadcasting Union Robot Contest held in Japan. Three robots will be displayed
in the Young Achievers¡¦ Gallery in February 2010.

In addition, the Young Achievers' Gallery Showcase will feature
the Official Records of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union Robot Contest
of Tokyo, as well as the RTHK Television¡¦s program, ¡§ROBOCON 2009¡¨.

The winning artworks of the 2009 NASA Space Settlement Design
Contest and the International Children¡¦s Exhibition of Fine
Arts Lidice will be displayed there concurrently.

Seven pieces of winning artwork of Ho Sie Wing, Charlotte, first runner up in the competition, from Diocesan Girls¡¦ School, will be displayed.

Learning beyond the classroom ¡V Tour the ¡§Young Achievers¡¦ Gallery¡¨!

The Young Achievers¡¦ Gallery, located at the West Block Podium of the EDB Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre, was formally launched on 6th December 2007. The Gallery houses a mini theatre to show a 180-degree panoramic film featuring some students¡¦ success stories. Other interactive exhibits are categorised into seven domains: Arts, Design, Languages and Humanities, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Sports and Thinking. Touring the Gallery will surely enlighten the students and inspire them to strive for success.

Except on Sundays and public holidays, the Gallery is fully open from Monday to Saturday from10:00 am to 18:00 pm. It is free to all visitors. We especially welcome visits from schools and activity related worksheets are designed so that students can realise the idea of life-wide learning beyond the confines of classrooms.
