11th Hong Kong Chemistry Olympiad for Secondary Schools (2005-2006)

Final:

The final was held on 29/4/06 at the Jockey Club Auditorium, Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The first three winning teams are as follows:

  • Gold Medal Award: St Paul's Convent School: Green Saviour - Chitin & Chitosan
  • Silver Medal Award: SKH Bishop Mok Sau Tseng Secondary School: Indoor Carbon Dioxide Filter
  • Bronze Medal Award: Belilios Public School: Wastewater Treatment

Poster Presentation:

The best 12 teams participated in the poster presentation on 25/3/06 (see the project abstracts for details). The six finalist teams are as follows:

  • Belilios Public School: Wastewater Treatment
  • Hong Kong Chinese Women's Club College: Transformation of Food Wastes into Green Plastics
  • SKH Bishop Mok Sau Tseng Secondary School: Indoor Carbon Dioxide Filter
  • St Joseph's Anglo-Chinese School: Red Tide Purger
  • St Paul's Convent School: Green Saviour - Chitin & Chitosan
  • Sing Yin Secondary School: New Strategy for Compact Disc Recycling

Hong Kong Chinese Women's Club College was also voted as the Most Popular Team.

The following six teams are awarded the highly commended awards:

  • T.W.G.Hs Lo Kon Ting Memorial College 'Green' Plastic
  • Diocesan Girls' School Adsorption of Dye by Activated Sludge
  • United Christian College Rubbish Vs Rubbish
  • Carmel Pak U Sec. School Plastic Fuel
  • Carmel Pak U Sec. School Biodiesel B20
  • Ying Wa College "Styrofoam" - no longer a headache

The final will be held on 29/4/06 from 9:15 am to 12:30 pm at the Jockey Club Auditorium, HK Polytechnic University. Details will be announced in TCS.
